Deerfield Lutheran Church

The Deerfield Lutheran Church, located at 206 S. Main St. in Deerfield, is celebrating 125 years of ministry throughout  2015, and a very special celebration service is planned for Sunday, Oct. 25 at 9 a.m.  Special guests who will be in attendance and participating in the celebration service include the Rev. Mary Froiland, Bishop of the South-Central Synod of Wisconsin; Pastor Larry Sexe (who ser-ved from 1993 to present); Pastor Joseph Nesheim (who served Deerfield Lutheran from 1972-1976); Pastor Tom Hoversten (who served from 1977 to 1982); as well as pastors John Holten and Jim Mehltretter, who are sons of the congregation and will be returning to participate in this joyous service of celebration as well.

The special service will include musical selections from the Deerfield Lutheran Choir and the Deerfield Lutheran Hand-bell Choir as well as other special music.  Following the celebration service will be a traditional Lutheran potluck meal served in the church’s Fellowship Hall.

All current and former members are invited to attend to help celebrate this special day in the history of Deerfield Lutheran Church.

As they plan for the future Deerfield Lutheran Church will continue to be deeply rooted in the community of Deerfield. The mission is to share the Good News of Christ’s love for all people whether rich or poor, and regardless of race, ethnicity, sexuality, or social background. For the church this means growing the vital partnership between the church and the home which has been central to the milestone ministries and which sees the church as helping families nurture faith in their daily lives.  The church will also continue to adapt to changes in society by finding new ways to serve others in the local community as well as throughout the world.

As they begin the 126th year, they pray for God’s Holy Spirit to renew them in the mission that they are “CALLED IN WORSHIP TO CARE FOR OTHERS BY SHARING CHRIST’S LOVE.”
